Contribution to Education

This award is designed to attract nominations from educational institutions across the city, including primary, secondary and third level institutions (to include vocational, further and higher education). The award will be given to the individual judged to have contributed most to improving quality of education in the city. The award is not designed to reward purely academic success, but will be based on improvement in academic standards, breadth of educational offer and access to learning. The nominee should work in a project based within the Belfast City Council area.

Nominations should be completed on one A4 sheet and the form should include details of the nominee, including name and contact details and their work in the educational field. This should include details of why they should win the award for Contribution to Education and can be submitted by the institution itself or an individual working at the institution.

In deciding the winner, the judges will consider:

  • The work of the individual and their ability to motivate both learner and colleagues in their work
  • The specific benefits to learners and how this has improved educational vibrancy within the city
  • How the individual has learned from best practice elsewhere in their educational work in Belfast
